As promised, we proudly present the first installment of the week-long mini-series of Les Miserabstep!
First up, an electropop remix of the heart-wrenching classic, “I Dreamed a Dream” starring Rachel Dady.
Made popular by Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent and Lea Michele on Glee, we’ve now taken it one step even further away from its original intention. Enjoy!
Hey hey hey all you Online Musical lovers out there! Have you liked our new Facebook page?? We’re back in a big way and excited to bring you a marriage of two of our favorite things– the unparalleled poetic and musical power of Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Les Miserables with the cardiac arrest-inducing bass drop of dubstep. Yes, we have found a way to perfectly meld these two seemingly opposite forces into a perfect blend of badassery and Internet goodness. People of the interwebs, we present to you: Les Miserabstep!
Les Miserabstep is the first “Rampell Remix”, awesome remixes of your favorite musical theater classics done by The Online Musical’s very own Ryan Campbell (Yes that’s right, Henchman #2 from MTOM, James from Pokemon: The Musical AND the 1920′s Reporter from Waldo). This week we’ll be dropping three original remixes your way, “I Dreamed a Dream” on Monday, “One Day More” on Wednesday, and “Empty Chairs and Empty Tables” on Friday, so crank up the volume and get ready to dance for revolution like it’s 1832.
Yes MTOMers, you heard that right! Our lovable interactive musical theater company was featured on the Vlogbrothers’ Nerd Factor list and we couldn’t be more pumped!
We want to give an enormous thank you to Hank, John, and all of you nerdfighters out there in Nerdfighteria for the mention and support!!
Right now we’re finishing up work on our latest project, and let us just say that it is going to be beyond epic. Remember to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates and other funzies from us, and be on the look-out for our newest project coming your way in the next few weeks!
Hello interwebz explorers! That’s right, all of us at The Online Musical have created another tasty internet treat–the most enduring mystery known to man has been solved: WHERE’S WALDO?: THE MUSICAL.
As you know, we here at TOM are constantly striving to answer life’s greatest questions. Since the dawn of time, millions of children have struggled to find the illusive Waldo. But we’ve found the answer. The Online Musical is proud to present the true tale of Waldo. First there’s Wenda—- ex-lover, looking for her baby-daddy…is Waldo the one? Next up, Odlaw—- a spiteful half-brother, looking to himself…does Waldo have the answer? Then there’s Wizard Whitebeard—- he was left behind when the student overcame the teacher…can Waldo stay hidden? Lastly there’s the 1920’s reporter…he just wants the scoop. But why all the secrets? Is Waldo hiding from us, or hiding from himself?
Yes, that’s right! We’ve created another bite-size piece of pop culture for your consumption! What topic did we choose to turn into 4 minutes of musical theater glory, you ask? We at the Online Musical took a journey into our collective toy box and chose to feature a cultural icon that stripped American children of hours of outdoor playtime and forced parents to sit through 4 hours of terrible cinema. Yes, that’s right. We present to you POKEMON: THE MUSICAL!
Along with sushi, undeniably one of the greatest cultural staples to arise out of Japan and into the open arms of American consumer culture has been Pokemon. In Pokemon: The Musical, we give you the real story of young Ash Ketchum and his posse and they set out into the world at the tender age of 10 to battle pokemon, Team Rocket, and puberty…all in 4 minutes and set to music.
Want to live this epic journey over and over again? Get the original cast recording of Pokemon: The Musical on iTunes!

IT’S HERE! The long-awaited, much-anticipated FIRST MINI MUSICAL! Being loyal University of Virginia students, we couldn’t pass up the suggestion of our first mini musical to feature our favorite founding father and all-around cool guy–Thomas Jefferson! Check out our comedic, entirely historically inaccurate, 10-minute tale of how this great nation was born:
We’ve had quite a busy semester, and we hope you guys enjoy the fruits of our labor (and your ideas!). Musical: The Online Musical AND Thomas Jefferson: The Musical are now both up on iTunes! So much interactive musical theater! Listen to it while you drink coffee, walk your dog, walk your children…it’s great for any occassion! Thank you to all who have already purchased the tracks, as well as to everyone who helped out in our IndieGoGo fundraiser by giving a donation or spreading the word. With the money that we raised from that we were able to purchase all of the costume and building supplies for Thomas Jefferson and our next Mini Musical (coming out soon!), a new camera stabilizer (increased production value!), a new tripod, props for both Mini Musicals, and another external hard drive. We can’t express how much your support means to us, and you’ve definitely made it possible for us to keep producing quality content for your internet enjoyment.
As for what other shenanigans we’ve been up to, we wanted to thank all of you for your support for MTOM’s Gavin Rohrer in his quest for Off-Broadway greatness. He was the highest ranked male and we got lots of great feedback on the MTOM channel. Thanks as well for all the great feedback on our Rebecca Black reactionary play–the Charlottesville Community Players really appreciate all your support and great comments.
Keep up the love guys, grab TJ on iTunes, and keep your eyes peeled for another musical of mini proportions!
Hey all you MTOMers out there! Recently a cultural bomb exploded on the Internet. Yes, we’re talking about one of the biggest memes in all of memedom–Rebecca Black’s hit song “Friday”.
Of course we couldn’t just sit back and watch this wonderful cultural opportunity pass by, thus was born “Friday” A Short Play in One Act Based on Rebecca Black. Written by Jeff Luppino-Esposito, with music by Matt Saverese, and performed by the Charlottesville Community Players, this reactionary play hopes to reconcile the true story behind Rebecca’s rise to fame and her apparent distrust in the logical system of days. The work was featured as “Short Play of the Day” on The Daily What and has been loved on by many a YouTuber.
What are you waiting for?? Everyone needs more RB in their lives!
